Senior Electrical Engineer
The Role
●The Senior Electrical Engineer will excel in engineering design and be comfortable leading projects from inception to completion, working with minimal supervision. They will also assist in planning and managing an appropriate resource to deliver projects.
●They will prepare conceptual designs of HV and LV electrical systems, lighting, fire alarms etc and be
responsible for equipment selection and calculations and assist with the preparation of the client brief.
●The role also requires that they are confident giving technical presentations to the professional team as well as managing site coordination meetings with contractors.
●The Senior Electrical Engineer will work across multiple projects at any one time, and will prioritise work to ensure timely delivery.
Responsibilities
Design
●Design safe, economical and reliable electrical systems to meet the contractual scope of work and
comply with the applicable standards and regulations.
●Develop the preparation of clear and concise drawings, specifications and product schedules to
define electrical systems.
●Coordinate electrical design with other disciplines (e.g. architectural, structural, mechanical & public
health) to minimise conflicts and avoid costly revisions.
●Check tender submissions, drawings and technical submittals to ensure quality of products and
equipment are in accordance with design.
●Undertake site visits and monitor progress against the design.
Management
●Work well within the team and manages medium-sized projects internally and externally in respect
of deliverables, resources and financials.
●Assist with the review of appointment documents and scopes of service.
●Set targets and monitor workload against deliverables.
●Ensure compliance with company’s Quality Assurance procedures.
●Build relationships and contacts with potential sources of new work, maintain existing relationships.
Technical
●Demonstrate a good understanding of BSRIA BG6 and RIBA stages, Part L, BREEAM and renewable
technologies.
●Demonstrate a general understanding of other MEP engineering disciplines, other than your own,
sufficient to understand their impact in the overall design, and converse at a high level.
●Ensure proficiency in the use of the following systems; Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Trimble
(formerly Amtech) or Cymap, DIALux or similar.
●Develop ability to use AutoCAD and Revit.
●Attained or working towards Chartered status.
●Undertake Continual Professional Development by reading technical journals, attending relevant
IEE/CIBSE technical seminars from time to time and attending in house seminars aimed at increasing
technical and operational knowledge.

●Demonstrate a thorough understanding of project costing principles and control changes during
project development.
