Principal Process Engineer (Manchester)
Ideal candidate will be required to:
*provide specific process expertise in the design of pharmaceutical and bio-technology plants and / or Nuclear industry sectors.
*provide all process engineering input required in the execution of a project/proposal/study.
*provide a source of technical expertise in the wider process arena, particularly safety.
As lead engineer to ensure that process design is carried out according to programme and within budgeted man hours.
Provide support to the sales and proposal departments
Carry out concept and design studies.
Principal responsibilities and accountabilities:
Program preparation/preparation of man hour estimates/control and monitoring.
Carry out process design work, including:-
*Design concept and layout development,
*Preparation of material balances,
*Preparation of process flow diagrams & piping and instrumentation diagrams,
*Hazardous Area assessment,
*Preparation of equipment list and process equipment data sheets/specifications,
*Fluids list and materials selection,
*Process hazard studies (inc. HAZOP) and design safety reviews,
*Detail process design calculation,
*Pressure relief design
*Utilities schedules, utilities flow diagrams and line sizing,
*Preparation of validation documentation.
*Approval and checking of all process design work on allocated projects.
*Ability to make presentations to clients on process design or concept issues.
*Ensure the operation aspects of any design are correct and are understood by other disciplines, in particular Control and Instrumentation.
Qualifications and training:
Essential: First degree in Chemical or Biochemical Engineering, CEng, MIChemE
Desirable: Member of ISPE, Member of the Nuclear Institute
Technical skills and experience:
Relevant experience in industry. Process engineering design in contracting environment. Process engineering design in pharmaceutical industry or Nuclear industry. PC literate.
Operating experience in primary/secondary pharmaceutical,biotechnology,batch fine chemical industry or Nuclear. Work experience in related areas - e.g. development,
feasibility, trouble shooting, operations. Experience in Environmental projects, HAZOP study leadership, Risk Assessment and Hazard Analysis.
