Senior Mechanical Engineer

Contract Duration: 6-12 months
Infrastructure division currently looking for a senior mechanical engineer to join mechanical, electrical and process (MEP) team in Belfast to provide innovative multidisciplinary engineering solutions for our clients.
The MEP practice is a well-established, multidisciplinary, water engineering team with an extensive portfolio of UK and International projects, helping clients address asset creation, process improvement and plant optimisation needs. Locally focused teams incorporate expert process, mechanical and electrical engineers who provide a multidisciplinary approach to solving clients’ problems in creating, managing, building and investing in water and wastewater infrastructure.

Detailed role requirements:
•Educated to degree level with a mechanical engineering bias; ideally a chartered Member of a recognised engineering institution
•Computer-literate and able to work effectively work with the basic Microsoft suite of programmes as a minimum
•Broad experience within the water and/or wastewater engineering sector
•Ability to provide a customer-focussed service with a sound understanding of the water sector regulatory framework
•Understanding of water and wastewater treatment technologies; an interest in developing and/or exploiting new and emerging technologies and techniques
•Ability to complete assignments on time, within budget and to a high technical standard
•A well-developed understanding of the design process
•Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
•Well-motivated, with a positive outlook and approachable manner
•Ability to be flexible and to multi-task and prioritise when necessary
•Flexible and able to work within the rest of the UK and overseas, as work demands and if necessary
•Leadership qualities in a project team environment
Responsibilities (may vary depending on assignment):
•Plant and infrastructure surveys and assessments, using cutting-edge technologies and techniques as appropriate
•Feasibility, outline and detailed mechanical design, research and development work including equipment specifications, plant schedules, access, lifting and maintenance strategies, technical risk assessments, control philosophies, process flow diagrams, P&IDs and commissioning strategies, cost and programme estimations
•Plant specifications; supplier equipment assessment and evaluation
