Fire Engineer
Key Responsibilities:
Review fire strategies for new-build and existing buildings in accordance with:
o Approved Document B
o BS 9991 / BS 9999
o Relevant British and European Standards.
Ability to prepare and create one would be an advantage
o Undertake fire engineering assessments/notes for bespoke site scenarios and deviation from
tested details related to passive firestopping.
o Apply performance-based fire engineering approaches where prescriptive guidance is insufficient.
o Liaise with Architects, MEP engineers, and contractors
o Review design changes and assess impact on fire safety compliance.
o Provide technical input during construction and respond to design queries.
o Participate in site inspections and compliance reviews where required.
o Contribute to internal technical development and quality assurance processes.
Skills & Experience:
Essential
· Experience working as a Fire Engineer within the UK built environment.
· Strong knowledge of UK fire safety legislation, guidance, and standards.
· Knowledge on passive fire stopping.
Desirable
· Ability to carry out fire technical assessments/notes.
Qualifications
· Degree in Fire Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
· Working towards or holding professional registration .
· Membership or progression towards membership of IFE or equivalent professional body.
