Graduate Engineer

Responsibilities:

● Maintain a high degree of professionalism and diligence.

● Carry out the tasks assigned in a timely manner.

● Be highly observant.

● Willing to assist other staff wherever possible.

● Readily engage with Engineers outside of their area of specialisation.

● Understand project requirements and complete all duties assigned by the Supervising Engineer.

● Ask questions, and assist other staff wherever possible.

● Participate in the development of the company through feedback - both raising concerns as well as making suggestions for improvement, where appropriate.

● Conduct research and complete Technical Notes.

● Accompany other engineers to meetings and sites.

● Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times.

● Actively participate in meetings and workshops.

● Be on the lookout for relevant courses and other training initiatives.

● Analyse data and interpret results.

● Assist in writing reports, under the guidance of the Supervising Engineer.

● Take notes and share your findings with your Supervising Engineer and other relevant stakeholders.

● Establish professional relationships with staff and collaborators.

● Engage in social activities.

● Undertake regular informal meetings with an assigned mentor alongside a more structured, agreed training plan


Minimum Requirements:

● A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline (a minimum 2:1 grade is preferred but is not essential).

● Strong analytical and mathematical skills.

● Excellent verbal and written (including punctuation) communication skills.

● Superb time management and professionalism.

● A growth mindset.

● Attention to detail.

● Natural drive

● Ability and willingness to accept and to progress from constructive criticism.

● A valid driver’s licence may be required.

Key Performance Indicators:

● Filling in timesheets weekly

● Load path sketch / Mark up at the start of each calculation section

● Loading, Forces & Deflection diagram for all beams & frames

● Following the calculation, drawing, filing & report writing templates and guidance

● Assistance with production of monthly technical notes
